How to Wash, Detangle and Store a Synthetic Wig
Share
Gentle care helps a synthetic wig keep its shape and reduces avoidable tangling. Always follow the individual product page if it gives different instructions.
Before washing
- Remove clips and accessories.
- Hold the wig securely and detangle from the ends upward.
- Use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb. Do not pull through knots.
How to wash
- Fill a clean basin with cool water and a small amount of mild shampoo.
- Gently move the wig through the water. Do not rub, twist or wring the fibers.
- Rinse thoroughly with cool water.
- Blot excess water with a towel without squeezing.
- Place the wig on a stand and let it air-dry completely.
Detangling straight and wavy wigs
For straight styles, work slowly from ends to roots with a wide-tooth comb. For wavy styles, finger-style first so the wave pattern is not stretched unnecessarily.
Heat styling
Current KWWIG wigs use heat-resistant synthetic fiber. Unless a product page states otherwise, keep heat tools at or below 130°C / 266°F, work only on fully dry hair and test a hidden strand first. Heat resistance does not prevent damage from prolonged contact.
Storage
Store the dry wig on a stand or in its original shape, away from direct sunlight, high heat, moisture and friction. Keep long fibers arranged smoothly to limit tangling.
Important notes
- Do not dye synthetic fiber.
- Do not brush aggressively.
- Color can appear different across screens and lighting.
- Light initial shedding can occur; handle the fibers and lace gently.
